- AREA DESCRIPTION – Potengi is located on the southern portion of the Ceará state, at approximately 80km from the city of Crato. Potengi is an internationally known destination for birdwatching. Here we will stay at the Sítio Pau Preto, located at 6 km from the downtown area. Its owner, Jefferson Bob, is an experienced birdwatching guide and enthusiast who planned the building and services specially to meet the needs of birders from anywhere in the world. The Sítio Pau Preto offers a family environment, excellent food and comfortable bedrooms.

- MAIN TARGET SPECIES – – In Potengi, more than 200 bird species have been registered. Among them are the White-browed Antpitta (Hylopezus ochroleucus), Great Xenops (Megaxenops parnaguai), Lesser Wagtail-Tyrant (Stigmatura napensis bahiae), Greater Wagtail-Tyrant (Stigmatura budytoides gracilis), White-naped Xenopsaris (Xenopsaris albinucha), Red-shouldered Spinetail (Synallaxis hellmayri) and Pygmy Nightjar (Nyctidromus hirundinaceus). To facilitate birdwatching activities, the Sítio Pau Preto includes feeders and structures built with natural materials mimic the environment around it. This setup allows for amazing photos and a very comfortable birdwatching day. The cameras can be positioned under shade at the hotel balcony and you can sit bad and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while waiting for the perfect photograph! Here we will observe bird species typical from the Caatinga such as the Scarlet-throated Tanager (Compsothraupis loricata), Red-cowled Cardinal (Paroaria dominicana), Pale Baywing (Agelaioides fringillarius), Ruby-topaz Hummingbird (Chrysolampis mosquitus), Campo Troupial (Icterus jamacaii) and many others.
